American Society of Mechanical Engineers

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is one of the world’s largest engineering societies and extends into 127 countries outside of the United States.  It is dedicated to providing mechanical engineers worldwide with current information on new technologies and also to contributing to the improvement of technology.  Our Rutgers chapter is committed to encouraging original student research on both the undergraduate and graduate levels, making advances in the engineering field, and promoting a high ethical standard.  Every year we strive to participate in as many engineering design projects and competitions as possible, support the growth of all engineering societies, improve the academic experience of students within our department, and also improve our outreach to professional and academic organizations and institutions.  Our biggest annual undertaking has been the design and manufacturing of a human-powered vehicle (HPV) to compete in the national competition each spring.  Additionally, we have chosen to reach out into our community by getting involved with a local FIRST Robotics team.
